The Writing Is On The Wall
This chapter reads like something out of a really good (or strange) science fiction novel. People drinking and worshipping idols, and then a giant hand appears and starts writing on the wall. And there is Daniel. Still humbled and still wanting his gifts to be used by God. Still refusing to see them as gifts to benefit only himself.
In verse twenty-three, Daniel proclaims that King Belshazzar still has not honored God, though his breath is held in God's very hand. Forget the fact that God can literally produce a hand to write on a wall or save three men from burning flames, He gets so much more personal than that. He holds us and sustains us, our very breath.
Let's don't get caught up in the strange-to-us bits of the story or in thinking about how awfully self-centered the King was. Let's take a moment to remember that the God whose hand holds our very breath is anxious for us to give Him glory. Where are we withholding it? Let's repent and turn our attention back to Him.

About this Plan

Maybe we’ve heard about Daniel and the lion’s den - but who was he really? Daniel was an exile from Judah in a foreign land (Babylon) with many eyes on him, watching which moves He would make and how those choices would define him. Let’s dig into Daniel together and let the Lord make Himself more known to us. Let’s read about the One who made Daniel’s story matter and who is still speaking truth to us through His words today.
