You Are Greatly Loved
I love this scene from the book of Daniel. He has gone deep into a time of fasting, earnestly seeking the Lord, when a man with a “face like lightning" and “eyes like flaming torches" appears before the famished, mourning Daniel. And Daniel? He is absolutely terrified. He cant even look at the figure of this man, who is presumably Christ himself come to speak to His servant.
What is the shining light of a man there to say? Should Daniel indeed tremble with fear and fall on his face, incapacitated by the glory of the One standing before him? Well, yes, but there is more. So much more.
“O Daniel, man greatly loved..." These are the first words spoken over Daniel by the Presence. He is loved. “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard..." (v. 11, 12) Oh, what sweet words.
Sister, Christ speaks these words to you today. Do you believe you are greatly loved? Because you are. Do you know that your every word has been heard, your very heart understood from the first day you sought the Lord? Because it's true.
Daniel was left breathless by the glory of God that day, all strength leaving his body in the disarming presence of the Almighty. But it was the Lord that lifted him up, strengthened his frame, granted him peace and courage.
May it be the same for us today, Lord. May we earnestly seek you. May we find you in all your glory. May we be arrested again by your presence and may we be granted peace and strength from your hand. Amen.

About this Plan

Maybe we’ve heard about Daniel and the lion’s den - but who was he really? Daniel was an exile from Judah in a foreign land (Babylon) with many eyes on him, watching which moves He would make and how those choices would define him. Let’s dig into Daniel together and let the Lord make Himself more known to us. Let’s read about the One who made Daniel’s story matter and who is still speaking truth to us through His words today.
