Kong Hee: The Bond Of UnitySample

Kong Hee: The Bond Of Unity

DAY 2 OF 5

Being Strong As Nails! The fellowship of the Church is like a building. Imagine using glue instead of nails to construct the framework of a building. Would this be a strong building? Absolutely not! The framework of a building must be bound together securely by nails. Only when a building is strongly united can it firmly stand. As a Christian, you are responsible for encouraging unity within the fellowship of the Church. As Ephesians 4:3 says, “Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” It is not an easy task to keep unity within the fellowship of the Church. Imagine the stress placed on the framework of a building by the weight of the walls, roof and bricks. If the framework is not strong, the whole structure will cave in! The fellowship of the Church also experiences stress. The many opinions, personalities, and sins that Christians carry with them will test the strength of the unity of the fellowship. That is why it is so important for you to “keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Loving your brothers and sisters in Christ, caring for them, putting their needs before your own … this is how you maintain unity. This is how you help keep the fellowship of the Church strong as nails! Prayer for the day: Today, ask God to make you someone who encourages unity in the Church and not disunity.
