Pointers to PurposeSample

Passions, Burdens, Gifts, and Abilities
Devotional
God often gives purpose away in clues, not full sentences. One of those clues is passion—a deep and lasting interest in a particular area of human welfare. True passion is not emotional excitement but a persistent inner pull. It is the thing you can spend yourself on without regret. If you can do it joyfully even without payment, it is worth paying attention to.
Another clue is burden—the issues that break your heart. Nehemiah was moved to tears by the broken walls of Jerusalem. Some people are burdened by injustice, illiteracy, sickness, broken homes, disorganisation, or spiritual dryness. Not every problem burdens you deeply, but the ones that do often point toward your assignment.
Your gifts also matter. God wired you with natural abilities—communication, organisation, creativity, compassion, leadership, music, problem-solving, teaching, analysis—and these abilities point toward the kind of impact you are built for. Even your supernatural gifts—prophecy, discernment, healing, wisdom, intercession—carry signs of how God wants to use you.
Finally, purpose shows up in the kind of problems you easily identify and the solutions that naturally come to you. Some people effortlessly see order where others see confusion. Some understand people easily. Some carry an unusual sense of empathy. Some can create systems, build structures, or generate ideas. These are divine hints.
Purpose becomes clearer where passion, burden, and gifting intersect under the approval of God. When surrendered to Him, they become powerful channels for fulfilling His agenda on earth.
Prayer
Father, help me recognise the passions, burdens, and gifts You placed within me. Teach me to steward them for Your glory. Lead me into the exact assignment You designed for my life. Amen.
About this Plan

God’s purpose is not mysterious or distant—He designed it to shape our lives, serve humanity, and bring Him glory. In Christ, we discover identity, direction, clarity, and meaning. This 5-day devotional will help you understand what purpose truly is, how God reveals it, and how to recognize the signs pointing you toward your assignment. Through Scripture, reflection, and prayer, you will learn to see purpose not as an achievement, but as fellowship with God and partnership in His plan for mankind.
