Seek First 365: A One Year Bible Reading Plan for Daily DevotionSample

Reflection:
- What do James and John ask Jesus to do for them, and how did Jesus respond?
- How did Jesus define greatness, and how does that differ from society’s view of greatness today?
- In verse 48, how did the crowd respond to Bar-Timai? How does this differ from how the crowd treated him in verse 49? What does this show you about the dangers of following the crowd?
- What did Jesus ask Bar-Timai in verse 51, and what is the significance of this question?
Pray and Apply:
Reread verses 42-45. Is your definition of success the same as Jesus’ at the moment, and if not, how does it differ? What would it look like in your life for you to embrace Jesus’ definition of success, and how could you measure success differently moving forward? Ask Jesus to show you how to cultivate a servant’s heart in the way you interact with others, and listen for the Spirit of God to give you direction on what you can do to help those around you.

About this Plan

Seek First 365 is a one-year Bible reading plan designed to help you build a daily rhythm of reading Scripture, meditating on God’s Word, praying, and journaling. Instead of rushing through several chapters each day, Seek First 365 invites you to slow down and focus on a single passage—or even part of a chapter. The goal isn’t speed, but transformation. Each day is crafted to help you linger in God’s Word, listen to the Spirit, and let His truth shape your heart, mind, and life.
