Who started the church?
In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said, “...I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The church did not start with men or with human plans. It was started by Christ Himself. That is why we refer to our local church as “God’s church.”
This truth gives us confidence. If Jesus is the builder, then the church rests on His power and not on ours. That means the church is secure, even when it faces trials.
The church is not a man-made institution. It is the work of the living Christ. He promised that nothing could destroy what He began.
So, we must trust His plan and be faithful to His church. Since He started it, we can be sure He will grow and sustain it until He comes again.
