Hearing God's Voice

DAY 5 OF 6

Hearing God’s Voice for Yourself

Today’s Goal
Learn how to hear God’s voice for yourself before you try to hear it for others—not because it’s a rule, but so that you first come to know His heart before sharing His words.

Bible (ESV)
Acts 16:6–8
“And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas.”

John 10:15
“Just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.”

Reflection
God’s voice is first and foremost meant for you personally. Intimacy comes before activity. Even good, Christian busyness can distract you from your relationship with Jesus.

For thirty years, Jesus healed no one and raised no dead yet He lived in deep communion with the Father. Everything He later did flowed out of that relationship.

Waiting can feel passive, but sometimes God specifically calls you to wait. His voice often focuses on who He is and who you are in Him. That shapes you and gives direction.

Practical Steps
Start your day with Him before checking your schedule or phone. Ask, “Lord, what do You want to show me today about Yourself or about me?” Write down the scriptures, thoughts, or questions that come to your heart. Take time to reflect; not everything requires immediate action. Stay alert when intimacy begins to turn into mere productivity. Remind yourself that ministry flows from connection, not from activity.

Action Point
Think of a way to build short moments of intimacy with Jesus into your work or daily routine.

Reflection Point
When you wake up in the morning, where does your first attention go? What does that reveal about your priorities and your desire for His voice?

Extra Tip
Set an “intimacy alarm” a reminder that helps you pause and refocus your heart on Jesus, even if it’s just for one minute.

About this Plan

Hearing God's Voice

Many people fill their minds with Bible knowledge and think this builds faith. Yet the Bible says that faith does not come from knowledge alone, but from listening to the word of Christ. This plan helps you discover how to recognize His voice in your heart and how to practice listening to it. Each day includes a short reflection, Bible verses, and practical steps to help you learn to discern God’s voice more clearly.
