Hearing God's Voice

DAY 4 OF 6

Praying and Listening

Today’s Goal
Discover how prayer can become two-way communication—not just speaking, but especially listening.

Bible (ESV)
Philippians 4:7
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Matthew 7:7–8
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”

Reflection
Prayer is often experienced as a monologue, but God invites us into a dialogue. When we begin with worship, our focus shifts from our circumstances to His presence. Listening in prayer means becoming still and receiving. Not all our thoughts come from God, but the Holy Spirit teaches us to discern His voice.

Practical Steps
Start with praise. Take time to be still. Write down any impressions you receive. Ask, “Lord, is this from You?” and check whether it aligns with God’s Word. Act on what you receive.

Action Point
Take time today to pray without your own list of requests. Worship God and listen to what He wants to say to you.

Reflection Point
How much space do you give to God’s voice in your prayer life?

Extra Tip
If being silent in prayer feels difficult, start with a worship song or a Psalm.

About this Plan

Hearing God's Voice

Many people fill their minds with Bible knowledge and think this builds faith. Yet the Bible says that faith does not come from knowledge alone, but from listening to the word of Christ. This plan helps you discover how to recognize His voice in your heart and how to practice listening to it. Each day includes a short reflection, Bible verses, and practical steps to help you learn to discern God’s voice more clearly.
