LEADERSHIP WISDOM FROM the WILDSample

Be Thirsty for Progress
The psalmist declared, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God” (Psalm 42:1). The deer’s thirst drives it higher, seeking streams that flow from the mountains.
Every great leader must cultivate that same holy restlessness. God is never pleased with stagnation. He lifts us from glory to glory and from height to height. Jacob wrestled because he desired change; Joshua and Caleb pressed on because they believed there was more. God always honors the leader who refuses to settle.
The deer teaches us that movement is natural to life. The moment you stop thirsting, you start dying. Progress in leadership begins with spiritual hunger, a longing for God that outweighs the desire for position, power, or applause. Jesus says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6, NIV). Seeking more of God is the first expression of true righteousness.
So what do we need? The passion to progress. To say with the hymn writer, “Lord, lift me up and let me stand, by faith on heaven’s tableland.” There is always a higher ground in God.
Consider: Have you grown comfortable where you are? Ask the Lord to rekindle your thirst for growth and revival. You were made to go higher.
