Use What You Have

The Bible says, “God did not endow her with wisdom or give her a share of good sense, yet when she spreads her feathers to run, she laughs at horse and rider” (Job 39:17–18, NIV).

The ostrich may lack what others boast of, but she makes the most of what she has. Her wings cannot lift her into the sky, but they help her balance in the wind as she runs faster than a horse. She doesn’t waste time wishing for what she lacks; she maximizes what she has.

Leaders often focus on limitations instead of possibilities. But God never starts with what you don’t have; He starts with what you do. When Moses complained about his speech, God said, “What is that in your hand?” (Exodus 4:2). The boy with five loaves and two fish didn’t have much, but in the hands of Jesus, little became much. He who calls something out of nothing delights in bringing much out of your little.

So, what do we need? The confidence to use what we have. Your gift may look ordinary, but when you spread your “wings” and run in the Spirit’s strength, you will laugh at the horse and rider of this world.

Consider this: What ability, skill, or resource have you been underestimating? Spread your feathers: it’s time to run.
