There is so much misconception regarding the subject of God’s sovereignty, especially with respect to salvation. Some think it means God decides who will be saved and who will not. Yes, God knows the end from the beginning. He has a foreknowledge of every man’s choice, but He never predestined anyone for a choice. He rather helps us to make the right choice through the influence of the Holy Spirit (John 16:8).

Think of it, if God predestined one to receive salvation and resist another from receiving the same, He would be unjust to judge the later for rejecting the gospel seeing that it was beyond their control. But God is never unjust. Praise God!

God's sovereignty is seen only in His provision of salvation and the means of receiving the same. God in His sovereignty has ordained Jesus as the only way to be saved. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). This is God’s sovereignty in salvation. His sovereignty doesn’t extend to how every man chooses to respond to God’s provision for salvation.

Man is a free will agent. He has the power to choose. From the garden of Eden, God gave man the right to decide his destiny. He said, “I set before you life and death; choose life.” God’s will is for all men to be saved, and He will not shut anyone out of His plan.
