Salvation is the central purpose of God for mankind. It is the focal point of all divine agenda and activities on earth. Paul reminded Timothy that from childhood, he had known the Holy Scriptures which could make him wise unto salvation.

The central theme of Scripture is salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. The Scripture is given to make us wise concerning God’s saving plan. Being wise unto salvation means understanding the what, why, when, whom and how of salvation. Just like the cross is the greatest demonstration of God’s love to man and Christ’s resurrection is the greatest demonstration of God’s power, Salvation is the greatest display of God’s wisdom to His creation. This is what God seeks to reveal to us in scriptures, His ingenuity in executing His redemption plan.

The Bible teaches God’s wisdom to excel in every aspect of our lives. We can glean godly principles and wisdom for healthy living, prosperous life, successful career and business, great marriage and family. But the core wisdom the Scriptures teach is salvation. So if you learn everything from the Bible except salvation, you have missed the purpose of Scripture.

Unfortunately, this is the reality of many believers. They know so much about everything the Bible teaches aside from salvation. Yet no man truly knows God outside His revelation in Salvation. It is when we understand salvation that we understand the character and will of God.
