Following Jesus Through the First Christmas: 25 Days of Advent TruthsSample

Jesus came to show us what God is really like.
John opens his Gospel with a bold claim: the Word was with God and the Word was God. Then he makes it even more amazing — the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
Christmas isn’t just a nice story about a baby; it’s the declaration that God came into our world so we could actually see Him.
Jesus shows us God’s heart in a way words alone never could. He welcomed the outcast, healed the hurting, and ate with sinners.
The life of Jesus shows us that God is not distant or indifferent, but near and personal.
So how do we know God better? We look at Jesus closely: reading His words, watching His actions, and letting His character shape our choices.
When we spend time with the Gospels, we’re meeting a person who reveals the Father’s nature. The birth of Jesus tells us that God values our story enough to enter it, share it, and redeem it.
Let Jesus correct any picture of God that feels primarily judgmental or distant. He is the Word made flesh — grace and truth embodied — and He’s still near to us now.
Pray:
God, thank You for coming near in Jesus. Open my eyes to see You clearly. Teach me to read the Gospels not just for information but for transformation. Help me live like the God I see in Jesus. Amen.

About this Plan

During a season that often feels busy and stretched thin, we invite you to pause and remember what matters most: following Jesus. The birth of Christ is more than a story we tell in December. It's the beginning of our Savior's life on earth — and the pattern for our own life with Him. Our prayer is that these 25 days prepare your heart to celebrate His birth, deepen your walk with Him today, and stir your hope for His return. We’ve also created a companion worship playlist – search “Following Jesus Through the First Christmas” on Spotify to listen.
