Peace Over Pressure

DAY 2 OF 5

Be honesthow much of your stress comes from trying to manage everything and maybe everyone?

You plan, prepare, anticipate, and overfunction. You make it look easy. But inside you're carrying everyone else’s emotions, schedules, reactions and your own guilt when it doesn’t all go well.

Let’s talk about control. I’m not talking about the fruit of the Spirit “self-control” but the unhealthy kind that makes us feel like everything depends on us. But it doesn’t all depend on us. In Colossians, we are reminded that it's God who is in control over all things and He’s the One who holds all things together.

Have you ever lived in the space where you’re trying to manage everything, trying to make sure no one’s disappointed, nothing falls through the cracks, and no emotion gets too messy?

You know, control is sneaky like that. It pretends to be a strength. But often, it’s a mask for fear. Sis, you weren’t meant to micromanage your life into peace. You were meant to trust, to lean, release, and surrender to the One who already sees the whole picture.

Proverbs 3 doesn’t say “figure it all out.” It says, trust in the Lord. That means leaning away from control and leaning into surrender.

Eventually, control turns into a cage. And the more we grip it, the less peace we feel.

And Isaiah 26 reminds us: peace doesn’t come from having control. It comes from having confidence in God.

So, try this: unclench. Loosen your grip. Let God be God. You don’t have to carry this alone.

Give yourself permission to let go of outcomes. Let go of what you can’t change. Let go of needing to be the hero.

Your job is not to be God. It’s to be His.

Prayer:

Lord, I admit I try to control too much. Help me loosen my grip on what I was never meant to carry. I trust that Your way is better and peace will follow my surrender.

Grounding Practice:

Surrender Breath

  • As you inhale, slowly pray: “I don’t have to know.”
  • As you exhale, pray: “I trust You to lead.”
  • Repeat 3 times. Let each breath soften your shoulders and settle your soul.
