Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

I am appointed for the defense of the gospel (Philippians 1:17 NKJV).
Do you stand up and defend the Gospel?
In Isaiah 31, the Israelites sought defense from Egypt instead of turning to God. In contrast, Paul, in Philippians 1, placed his full trust in God, boldly defending the Gospel with both his words and his life. While under house arrest, he writes, “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6 NKJV). Twice, Paul testifies that he had been commissioned to defend the gospel (Philippians 1:7, 17).
Peter reminds believers that we have a similar calling, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15 NKJV).
What about you? Are your words and actions truly standing up for your faith? Every conversation presents an opportunity to share the hope you have in Christ Jesus. Just as Paul remained steadfast even in chains, you too should stand firm and use your freedom to defend the faith—not just with words, but through your deeds and actions!
Employment Point: Rely upon God and defend the gospel by your words and actions.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
