We Don't Lose

DAY 4 OF 7

Get Our Priorities in Order

Jesus was very clear in teaching that God's Kingdom and His righteousness must come first in our lives. The promise was bold: when the eternal takes center stage, everything else falls into place.

We live surrounded by urgent demands, but urgency doesn't always equal importance. Dedicating the first day of the week, the first minutes of each morning, and the best of our resources to God is a tangible way of declaring that He is our top priority.

Honoring the Lord with the first of what we have isn’t just a ritual; it's an act of trust that opens the door to His provision. When we align our priorities with God’s perspective, we stop being trapped by the temporary and focus on what truly lasts: His Kingdom. William James put it this way: “The greatest use of a life is to spend it on something that will outlast it.”

Putting God first isn’t just a nice phrase—it’s a daily practice. It means giving Him real space in our time, decisions, relationships, and resources. When everything revolves around the urgent, we burn out. But when the eternal guides our priorities, we find direction, purpose, and fullness.

This is the conviction I live by: I always want to give the best of my life. If God gave me the best of Heaven, how could I not give Him the best of my life? For me, settling for the minimum is not an option. I choose to give the best of my energy, my time, and my gifts, because I know that in the Kingdom of God, nothing is ever wasted.

Reflection Questions:

  • In what areas of my life do I need to reorder my priorities to show that God's Kingdom comes first?
  • What practical decisions can I make this week to give God the best of my time, energy, and resources?

Prayer: Father, help me to seek Your Kingdom first. Teach me to give You my best and to trust that You will take care of me. May every part of my life show that You are my greatest priority. In Jesus' name, amen.
