Awestruck: 30 Days of Wonder in the Bible

DAY 11 OF 30

David knew the life of a shepherd well—guiding sheep across rough terrain, protecting them from predators, and providing food and water in barren places.

Out of that lived experience, he described God's care for His people: not distant, not abstract, but personal and near.

A shepherd doesn't just shout instructions from far away. He stays close. He knows each sheep by name. He leads them to rest, restores their strength, defends them from danger, and provides what they need each day.

That's what God does for you.

This psalm has been read at bedsides, in battlefields, and at funerals. For centuries, across cultures and generations, it has offered comfort and hope. There's something about these words that reaches into the deepest places of human need and whispers, "You are not alone."

It's more than beautiful poetry. It's a living reminder that God Himself takes responsibility for your care. When life feels overwhelming, when you're not sure which direction to go, when you feel vulnerable and exposed, remember: your Shepherd never sleeps, never leaves, and never stops caring for you.

As you open your Bible today, hear the voice of your Shepherd. The One who knows you, calls you by name, and invites you to trust Him with every step.

Reflect:

How does seeing God as your Shepherd change the way you read His Word?

Tomorrow we'll discover what God feels when you mess up—and it's not what most people think.
