Day 9: Let’s Pray

As we move through each piece of Made for More, I want to invite you to take one day and pray, out loud. There is a way things work in the Kingdom and praying effectively is always going to be helpful. A great example is that we often ask for things we already have. “Father, I pray you will be with us.” Is He with you? All the time? Is Jesus and the Holy Spirit with you… all the time? So, we don’t need to pray that he would be, but rather declare that God is. For example, “Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I declare that you are always with me, never leaving, never forsaking, and I take my place next to you, in you, with you and proclaim your presence with me, over me and for me. Thank you for your presence in my life.” Quite a different way to pray. The Life of God is in you, over you, and for you. Asking for it may sound humble, but in reality, it is praying from an inaccurate position as a Son or Daughter of God.

I invite you to continue to ask but also declare, proclaim, and even announce, not only for your heart, but also for the enemy of your heart to hear you… taking claim to what is yours in the Kingdom and appropriating what has already been given to your privilege and status as a Kingdom Son or Daughter. So, let’s pray…

Jesus, thank you for coming for me, for ransoming me with your own life. I honor you as my Lord, I love you, worship you, and trust you. I embrace you as my redemption, and I receive all the work and triumph of your Crucifixion, whereby I am cleansed from all my sin through your shed blood, my old nature is removed, my heart is circumcised unto God, and every claim being made against me is disarmed. I take my place in your cross and death, whereby I have died with you to sin and to my flesh, to the world, and to the evil one. I take up my cross and crucify my flesh with all its pride, unbelief, and idolatry. I put off the old man. I now bring the cross of Christ between me and all people, all spirits, and all things. Holy Spirit, apply to me the fullness of the work of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ for me. I receive it with thanks and give it total claim to my life.

Jesus, I also embrace you as my new life, my holiness and sanctification, and I receive all the work and triumph of your Resurrection, whereby I have been raised with you to a new life, to walk in newness of life, dead to sin and alive to God. I am crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. I now take my place in your Resurrection, whereby I have been made alive with you, I reign in life through you. I now put on the new man in all holiness and humility, in all righteousness and purity and truth. Christ is now my life, the one who strengthens me. Holy Spirit, apply to me the fullness of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ for me. I receive it with thanks and give it total claim to my life.

As you reflect on all this with God today, consider asking Him:

Jesus, what does exercising my will, speaking/praying these words out loud, “taking my place,” do to me, for me? I ask you to help me articulate the effect that praying this way has on my heart.

Holy Spirit, what have I been asking for that I already have? How have you been trying to empower me with position, authority, and status in your Kingdom?

Father, is there one phrase or sentence that feels like it’s just for me today? Would You help me hear it clearly and understand why it matters?
