Made for More: 30 Days of Experiencing More Life, Love, and FreedomSample

PART 2 LOVE
Day 11: A Love Affair of the Heart
At the heart of the Gospel—woven through every book of the Bible and every act of God—is a love story. A fierce, holy, passionate love story.
In 1 Corinthians 13 2-3, Paul writes what might be the most famous words on love ever spoken:
“Without love, I am nothing… and without love, I gain nothing.”
It almost sounds like Shakespeare. But it’s more than poetry—it’s divine truth. Strip everything else away, and what remains is this: the Larger Story of God and humanity is, above all, a story of love, about love, and for love.
But don’t mistake that love for something soft or sentimental. Love, real love, is dangerous. Costly. Transformational. In every great love story, the characters are tested. They journey into unknown places. They face challenges that require courage, strength, and sacrifice. And so it is with us. The Christian life is not a quiet religion—it’s an epic tale of rescue, desire, and redemption. It’s a love affair of the heart.
Author of The Sacred Romance, Brent Curtis, once wrote,
“Our lives are not a random series of events; they tell a story that has meaning.”
That Story is about being pursued, not for what we can do, but for who we are. Most of us have lost touch with that part of the Gospel. We’ve settled into duty, obligation, and service. We’ve forgotten that God doesn’t just want our obedience—He wants something far more intimate, like in a loving marriage, God wants our faithfulness. He wants nothing less than to woo and capture our heart.
“Our” and “we” make it all sound too general, let me be very specific…
He wants you.
You were made for a Sacred Romance and that’s why we long for one. To love beauty. To step into mystery. To be known and enjoyed, and to know and enjoy the One who created you. This is the kind of experiential love that awakens something deep in us. Because it is in there to be awakened. It stirs us to life. It calls to us. It calls us home because that is exactly what the Trinity is, our heart’s home.
Ask yourself: Have you ever had someone sit with you—not to get something from you—but to truly see you? To enjoy you? To know your heart? That is what God wants with you. And not “someday.” Now.
Let Him speak to your heart. Let Him love you. This is the path. This is the home your heart, soul, mind, and strength has always longed for. This is the Sacred Romance.
As you reflect on all this with God today, consider asking Him:
Jesus, how is seeing our relationship as a love story, invite me to see you, me, and what kind of life you are inviting me to live?
Holy Spirit, if we are in a love story in the midst of a battle, how does this context invite me to see you, see me, see the world?
Father, is there one phrase or sentence that feels like it’s just for me today? Would You help me hear it clearly and understand why it matters?
