When the Word Hits Too Close

At first, the crowd in Nazareth admired Jesus. But the moment His teaching confronted their assumptions and pride, their admiration turned into rage. They wanted a Messiah who would confirm their expectations, not one who would challenge their hearts.

God’s Word often does the same in our lives. It doesn’t just comfort—it corrects. It doesn’t just affirm—it confronts. If we only listen to the Scriptures when they make us feel good, we’re not really listening to God; we’re listening to ourselves.

Ask yourself: When God’s Word exposes something uncomfortable in me, do I bristle or do I bow? Don’t resist the convicting parts of Scripture—they are the ones most needed to shape your heart.

Prayer:
Father, forgive me for the times I’ve pushed away Your Word because it made me uncomfortable. Help me to welcome correction and receive Your truth with humility, so that my pride is replaced by obedience.
