Hearing From God's WordSample

More Than Good Advice
The crowd in Nazareth admired Jesus’ words, but they missed His identity. They saw Him as a hometown boy with impressive speaking skills, not the Son of God fulfilling prophecy. It’s possible to be amazed by the Bible as literature or impressed by it as wisdom, yet still miss Jesus.
True preaching doesn’t stop at good advice—it points us to Christ. Spurgeon once said, “Cut the Bible anywhere and it bleeds with the blood of Christ.” The Word is living, powerful, and Christ-centered. When you hear a sermon, the goal isn’t just to fill your notebook—it’s to fill your heart with Jesus.
When you listen to a sermon, don’t just ask, “Was that interesting?” Ask instead, “Did this help me see Jesus more clearly and love Him more deeply?”
Prayer:
Father, help me not to settle for being impressed by Your Word without being transformed by it. Point me to Jesus every time I read, every time I listen, and every time I worship.

About this Plan

Every Sunday for thousands of years, God’s people have gathered to sing His praise, to pray together, and—at the very center—to hear His Word read and proclaimed. This is not a modern church invention—it’s the way God has always met with His people. The Word is not an accessory to worship—it’s the anchor of worship.
