Hearing From God's WordSample

The Anchor of Worship
In that synagogue moment, everything stopped. All eyes were fixed on Jesus. Why? Because the reading of Scripture was not a transition—it was the center of worship. God’s Word is not an accessory to worship; it is the anchor of worship.
Think about the Declaration of Independence being read in 1776. The nation leaned in to hear what would define them as a people. In the same way, when we hear the Word of God, we are reminded of who we are as His people and how we are called to live. Worship is not only what we say to God in songs and prayers—it is also what He says to us through His Word.
When you gather for worship, don’t just look forward to the music or the fellowship. Fix your eyes on the Word. Listen for God’s voice. Respond with obedience and worship.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You speak through Your Word. Anchor my heart in Your truth, and help me fix my eyes on Jesus whenever I hear Scripture read and preached.

About this Plan

Every Sunday for thousands of years, God’s people have gathered to sing His praise, to pray together, and—at the very center—to hear His Word read and proclaimed. This is not a modern church invention—it’s the way God has always met with His people. The Word is not an accessory to worship—it’s the anchor of worship.
