Awakening Faith: Hope From the Global ChurchSample

Spirit-Empowered Mission
Sitting in Panama, a brother from Spain began to preach with a fire that seemed to fill the room. He wasn’t talking about building bigger ministries or launching new strategies. He was reminding us that the Spirit of God is the one who moves the mission forward.
Paul’s ministry wasn’t built on personality or clever planning (1 Cor 2:1-5). It was marked by humility, tears, trials, and the power of the Spirit. That truth shook me. Because, whether you’re standing in a pulpit, sitting in an office, caring for kids at home, or studying on a campus, the same Spirit is alive in you! The mission of God doesn’t advance by human strength but by His power.
That night, I realized how often I lean on my own ability. I focus on what I can plan, manage, or produce. But Jesus told His disciples to wait, not for a better plan, but for the Spirit. Only then did their ordinary lives become extraordinary witnesses.
The Spirit doesn’t just empower pastors and missionaries. He empowers accountants, teachers, engineers, nurses, neighbors, and students. He fills every believer to shine Christ’s light, whether across the street or across the world.
So here’s the question: are you living in your own strength, or relying on the Spirit’s power to bear witness to Jesus in your everyday life?
