Awakening Faith: Hope From the Global ChurchSample

Salesman or Satisfied Customer
I sat across from an older brother in South Asia. His weathered face carried both the weight of hardship and the light of deep joy. He began sharing about the difficulty of evangelism in his nation, where hostility toward the Gospel is real, and sharing Christ can cost you everything.
Then he said something I’ll never forget: “Sharing Christ is more about being a satisfied customer than a slick salesman.”
He explained: a salesman pushes, persuades, and often treats people like a quota to hit. But a satisfied customer? They speak freely, with joy, about what they’ve experienced. Their witness flows naturally. “We’re not recruiters,” he smiled. “We’re rejoicers.”
That truth struck me deep. How often do we treat evangelism like a duty to perform, rather than an overflow of delight in Christ? We don’t share Jesus because we have to; we share Him because we get to. Because our joy in Him is too good to keep to ourselves.
The apostle John wrote, “We write this to make our joy complete.” Witnessing isn’t born out of guilt or pressure; it’s born out of joy. When Christ satisfies your soul, you don’t need a script. You need only to testify to what you’ve seen and heard.
Where are you tempted to treat evangelism as a transaction instead of as a satisfied customer whose joy in Christ naturally overflows?
