Rooted: 30 Days to Strengthen Your Faith Through StruggleSample

WEEK 2: Planting Truth in Hard Soil
Focus: Replacing lies with the truth of God’s Word to re-root our identity.
Day 8: Chosen and Not Forgotten
“just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,” Ephesians 1:4-5
Growing up, I never felt “chosen”. I didn’t feel chosen at home, at school, at work.
Instead, I often felt forgotten. Rejected. Abandoned. The outcast.
These feelings - beliefs - ran so deep it was hard for me to really believe I was part of a chosen family in the body of Christ. Thought of with intention and molded into existence out of love.
Chosen. Chosen to be who God designed me to me - despite what the past, the world or others wanted to define me as.
Chosen. Holy. Blameless. In Love. Predetermined to be a child of God. A pleasure to Him.
That truth is real for you, too. That God saw into the future - into your thoughts, mistakes, failures - and still chose YOU. Knowing who you would ultimately become in Him.
He chose you. And He still chooses you.
That means the enemy has no claim over you as you surrender to that truth. The past has no claim over you. Your future is defined by God’s will in your life as you partner with him - it is not defined by the past.
You are chosen to do good works that the Holy Spirit will empower you to do. Chosen to worship God. Chosen to bring kingdom glimpses here on earth.
Chosen to be loved. Chosen to be forgiven. Chosen to be redeemed.
Not second choice - but first choice. Wanted. Desired. Loved.
Reflection Questions:
- What does it mean to be “chosen” by God?
- Where do you need that truth to settle today?
- How do you choose God back in your life?

About this Plan

We often view struggle as a bad thing to be avoided. Who wants pain, right? But what if it's in the struggle that God does some of his best refining work? What if it's in the struggle we are strengthened for the journey ahead? Jesus told us we would have trials - but we can take heart because we never walk the valley's alone. Join me for 30 days as we travel through scripture and strengthen our faith together in the face of struggle.
