Rooted: 30 Days to Strengthen Your Faith Through StruggleSample

WEEK 1: Uprooting the Lies
Focus: Exposing the lies that keep us stuck and disconnected from our identity in Christ.
Day 7: Surrendering What You Can’t Control
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
We love to trust in our own plans, don’t we? If we can just have control over how everything will go, we will be alright. We will be safe.
What an illusion. We can’t control circumstances, people, governments, the weather …. Most things are out of our control.
The ONLY thing we can control is us. Our responses. Our behaviours.
We are not called to trust in our plans, trust in our strategy, trust in our timelines.
We are simply called to trust the Lord. From where all blessings - and true safety - flow.
We cannot understand all the ways of God - but we can know His character and trust Him to be who He says He is. Good. Faithful. Just. Holy. Loving.
As we acknowledge His sovereignty and surrender our will to Him, he does direct our paths. One faithful step at a time.
He will not show you the whole blueprint. He will not compromise on his will. But as you take each step forward in obedience, he will equip you with everything you need.
Trying to control things meant for the Lord only brings frustration, disappointment, anxiety, and hopelessness.
But trusting God and allowing Him to direct our paths brings purpose, blessing, freedom, and hope in abundance.
Your safety is in who holds you - not in what you try to hold. Embrace that truth today,
Reflection Questions:
- What have you been trying to control?
- What would surrender look like today?
- Where do you tend to look for safety?

About this Plan

We often view struggle as a bad thing to be avoided. Who wants pain, right? But what if it's in the struggle that God does some of his best refining work? What if it's in the struggle we are strengthened for the journey ahead? Jesus told us we would have trials - but we can take heart because we never walk the valley's alone. Join me for 30 days as we travel through scripture and strengthen our faith together in the face of struggle.
