Romans 10
The great divide
In Paul’s day, the divide between Jew and Gentile was huge. Jews carried the history of God’s covenant, the law, and the promises. Gentiles were outsiders to all of that. Yet Paul proclaims a radical truth: when it comes to salvation, the ground is level at the foot of the cross.
There are no cultural, ethnic, or social barriers in Christ. The same Lord is Lord of all, and He pours out His riches on anyone—anyone—who calls on Him. The gospel tears down dividing walls and replaces them with a simple, stunning promise: whoever believes in Jesus will be saved.
This challenges us today, too. Sometimes we unconsciously draw lines—who we think is “close” to God and who is “far off.” But Paul reminds us that God’s mercy doesn’t play favourites. Grace is as much for the religious as for the rebellious, as much for the broken as for the polished.
