Discover the Powerful Connection Between Vision and Provision

In Genesis 22, God gives Abraham an impossible command: “Take your son, your only son Isaac, and sacrifice him (v.2).”

As they climbed Mount Moriah, Isaac looked up at his father and asked, “Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham didn’t have all the answers. He couldn’t see the way forward. But he responded with unwavering faith: “Jehovah Jireh — the Lord will provide.”

The name Jehovah Jireh is often translated to mean “God will provide,” but its literal definition is actually “God can see.” The connection between vision and provision is powerful!

I can imagine Abraham, as he built the altar and tied Isaac’s hands and feet, whispering, “God can see.” As he raised the knife, looking toward Heaven, believing, “God can see.” Then, just before it was too late, God spoke and opened Abraham’s eyes to see what He saw all along:

Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided” (Genesis 22:13–14, NKJV).

That ram didn’t just happen to be there. God had seen Abraham’s faith, and He had already made a way!

Are you facing a crisis today in your health, marriage, emotions, or finances? Do you wonder how God will get you through? You might not see a way out, but God does. Today, choose the path of faith. Yes, the choice isn’t easy and comes at the cost of reason and the expense of what may have been your previous experience. Nevertheless, instead of saying, “I can’t see how God is going to solve this problem,” declare, “God sees. He will provide!”

When the storm rages, call on His Name. When fear whispers, declare His promises. Jesus came so you would never walk through life alone. Experience His provision!
