When Calling Feels Uncertain

Many of us hesitate when we sense God calling us. We wonder: Is it really for me? Am I good enough? What if I fail? What if I didn’t hear correctly or don’t understand His plan? You’re not alone in that—certainly not! Even some of the greatest biblical figures struggled with doubt and uncertainty.

Moses questioned his ability to speak publicly. Jeremiah thought he was too young. Gideon asked for sign after sign to confirm God’s plan. And in The Chosen (Season 2, Episode 4), Matthew wrestles with his place among the disciples. He doesn’t fully fit in—he feels it. He’s different, odd. But Jesus doesn’t seem concerned about that—He simply invites Matthew to keep walking.

God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called. Your past, your doubts, your uncertainties—they don’t disqualify you, they don’t define you. In fact, your weaknesses are often where God’s strength shines the brightest (2 Corinthians 12:9). G.K. Chesterton famously said: “God uses people who fail - ‘cause there aren't any other kind around.” You’re in good company!
