Gideon - From Fear to VictorySample

Day 5 – Seeking Confirmation
Scripture:
Judges 6:36–40
Devotional:
Gideon, though clothed with the Spirit, still felt the weight of uncertainty. Twice he laid out a fleece before the Lord, asking for a clear sign. Some might see this as doubt, but God did not rebuke him. Instead, He graciously confirmed His word.
God knows our frame—He remembers that we are dust (Psalm 103:14). He is not impatient with our weakness. When we come honestly, saying, “Lord, I want to believe, but I need Your reassurance,” He meets us with kindness. What matters is not whether we feel strong, but whether our hearts are postured toward obedience once we hear His voice.
It is a lie to think that asking God for confirmation always shows unbelief. Sometimes it is simply wisdom. God delights to strengthen our faith, and He is not offended when we ask Him to make His word clear. Far from rejecting Gideon, He reassured him. Far from dismissing us, He draws close to us in our hesitation.
Reflection:
Where in my life do I need God’s reassurance before I step forward? Have I mistaken my need for confirmation as unbelief, when it could be God’s invitation to trust Him deeper?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your patience with me. Confirm Your word and steady my heart. Help me to step out in obedience when You speak.
