Wonderfully Made - Created in the Image of God

DAY 7 OF 7

Living in the New You

Have you ever wondered where you fit in God’s plan? What role are you meant to play? Here’s the answer: right here, right now. Your part in His plan begins with stepping into the new life He’s given you—a life where your old self no longer holds you back.

God calls us to rise above our instincts and live according to His Spirit. It’s less about being "natural" and more about embracing the supernatural.

This new life is not shaped by past experiences or instinctive responses. It’s a life of joy—joy in helping others, joy in being transformed, and joy in God’s presence. But this transformation isn’t always easy. It requires sacrifice.

The Sacrifice of the Old Self

Transformation requires a choice—to stay loyal and to obey. We all wrestle with the pull of our old instincts and comforts.

This sacrifice isn’t physical, but it is intentional. It means:

  • Choosing to engage in a meaningful conversation when you’d rather stay quiet.
  • Going out of your way to help someone when you’d rather focus on yourself.
  • Letting your faith shine, even when it’s uncomfortable or risky.

Living this way is how we grow closer to God, serve Him, and step into the new life He’s called us to. It’s a good sacrifice—a short-term discomfort for long-term gain in our walk with Him.

There’s no gray area. The old, flesh-driven ways lead to destruction, but the Spirit produces life-giving fruit. Yet, how often do we hold onto parts of the old because they’re “just who I am”?

  • "I react this way because of my upbringing."
  • "I hate this about myself, but I can’t change."

These excuses may feel justified, but they’re meant to be left at the foot of the cross.

What does this look like for you?

  1. Identify the old habits and instincts holding you back.
What thoughts, attitudes, or excuses do you need to surrender to God?
  2. Ask God to renew your mind and spirit.
Pray for His guidance in stepping into the new life He’s called you to.
  3. Take one step of intentionality.
Whether it’s helping a struggling friend, being patient with a family member, or shining your light in a difficult situation, let the Spirit lead.

You were created to reflect God’s image, to bring His light into the world. Don’t let old labels, instincts, or fears hold you back. Let the Spirit transform you, one decision at a time, and step boldly into the new creation God has made you to be.
