Start Here: The Greatest Commandments

DAY 12 OF 20

Paul doesn’t say he finished strong because he was the fastest, the smartest, or the toughest. He says he finished because he stayed faithful.

The fight and the race weren’t about proving something—they were about abiding in Jesus. Paul’s strength came from staying close, not striving harder. That’s what helped him finish well.

Yes, following Jesus takes effort. It requires choices and sacrifice. But real transformation doesn’t come from pushing harder—it comes from staying connected to God day after day.

Loving God with all your strength means choosing to strive toward faithfulness, not perfection.

Some days will feel like a sprint and others like a struggle, but the goal is the same: stay close and don’t give up.

Read the verse a few times today. What does “I have remained faithful” mean to you personally?

Sometimes following God feels a little complicated. There seem to be many things to remember, prayers to pray, and guidelines for how we're supposed to live. How do we even know where to start? In this devotional series, we'll find our starting point in the words of Jesus, focusing on the greatest thing Jesus calls us to do: love God, love others, and love ourselves.
