3 - LORD'S PRAYER - the Lord´s RequirementsSample

08 – In the World?
In Isaiah 6:3 (NIV) we read: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” From this we might conclude that the earth—our world in all its fullness—should sanctify God’s Name, since it is filled with His glory. Yet we know that God’s Name is not sanctified in our world, which Scripture says “is under the control of the evil one” (1 John 5:19, NIV).
Human pride and power disregard God’s Name in many nations, where rulers are worshiped as gods. In other contexts, violence enshrined in law dictates social order, robbing God of His rightful place. In some places, God’s Name is ignored in favor of economic power; in others, idolatry prevails.
Even where God’s Name is not openly blasphemed, He is often treated as an irrelevant deity of little consequence. Meanwhile, science and philosophy attempt to erase God from human understanding. Technology, advancing at breathtaking speed, edges toward self-deification, as if human progress were independent of the Creator.
But the truth is this: everything humanity “discovers” through science and technology merely uncovers the laws that have existed since eternity.
As Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV) reminds us: “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” Human beings cannot even create a single egg from which life may hatch!
Surely, God’s Name is not sanctified in the world.
Where else might it be?
About this Plan

The well-known Lord's Prayer, taught by Jesus to his disciples, can be divided, for study purposes, into two parts. The first addresses God's demands: his dwelling, his person, his kingdom, and his will. The second half addresses humanity's demands: their needs for bread, forgiveness, and deliverance. Let us, in this context, address the first part of the prayer.
