Legacy of Faith: 7 Conditions for Your Family’s Answered PrayersSample

The disciples used every ounce of their experience to keep their boat afloat. Ropes taut, muscles strained, clothes soaked. They hold conversations at a shout to overcome the roar of the storm all around them. Desperation sets in, and when they call out to Jesus, they shout!
In Matthew 8, they say, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” (v. 25, NKJV). In Mark 4, they say, “Master, carest thou not that we perish?” (v. 38, KJV). They turned to Jesus and cried out because they thought it was over.
What situations do you believe are beyond recovery? Is it financial? Relational? Like the disciples in the storm, desperate prayer happens when we come to the end of ourselves and recognize our complete dependence on God.
Desperate prayer acknowledges that our ways and thoughts aren't enough. When you cry out to God with desperation, He calms every storm and releases the power of Heaven.
Family Reflection
·Think about a time when your back was against the wall and you cried out to God like the disciples in the storm. How did God move when you had nowhere else to turn? What situation are you facing right now that needs that same kind of desperate prayer?
·Ask your children: When you're afraid, do you talk to Jesus about it? Just like David said, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you" (Psalm 56:3, NIV). What helps you remember that Jesus is bigger than anything that scares you?
Key Takeaway
Your most powerful prayers often come from your most desperate moments. Jesus isn’t just in the boat with you — He commands the wind and the waves in every storm.
Declaration Prayer
Father, just like the disciples cried out to You in the boat, we cry out for You to move mightily in our lives, for we know You hear and answer. We stand on Your Word that declares, “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4, NASB). We declare You are equal to any challenge and more than enough for us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Practical Challenge
As a family, choose one situation and commit to praying about it until a breakthrough comes. Keep a journal noting any progress, answers, or insights God provides along the way.
