How Does Faith in God Affect Our Emotions?Sample

Anger
“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:26-27 ESV)
Anger is an emotional response to injustice, to the evil we see around us in the world, including opposition to us personally. Sometimes anger is justified. Even God Himself becomes angry when people sin.
So the emotion itself is not wrong. But anger does make us vulnerable to sin, especially if we dwell on it. The apostle Paul warns us: If you get angry, do not sin. The devil can use your anger as a tool to embitter you or to destroy relationships in families, businesses, and churches. If we allow anger to breed in our hearts, it can grow into bitterness, wrath, clamor, slander, and malice (see Ephesians 4:31). When this happens, our outrage at the faults of others makes us commit a sin ourselves...
The Bible strongly advises us not to hold on to our anger. Talk it out as soon as possible. But what if that is not an option? For example, if the other party does not want to talk or because the injustice suffered cannot be undone? Then we can follow Jesus' example, who entrusted Himself “to Him who judges justly.” (1 Peter 2:23 ESV) Bring your anger to God and leave it to Him to deal with the injustice done to you.
Are you often angry? How do you deal with your anger ?

About this Plan

We all experience emotions, both positive and negative. When God’s Spirit lives in us, He transforms and renews us from within. How does this impact our emotions? Should Christians experience emotions differently than non-Christians?
