Day 7: Sharing Values That Last
Scripture: “Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.” (Proverbs 17:6, NIV)
Grandparenting isn’t just about the present; it’s about the legacy that will outlast us. God gives us grandchildren as a crown, a visible reminder of the generations we influence. Sharing values that reflect God’s truth and character ensures that this crown is more than just family; it becomes a testimony of faith, love, and integrity.
Asaph, the author of Psalm 78, reminds us to “tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done” (Psalm 78:4, NIV). As grandparents, you are uniquely positioned to share stories, traditions, and lessons reinforcing godly values. When you model prayer, honesty, forgiveness, and generosity, your grandchildren see more than words; they see faith lived out.
This reinforcement is a privilege and responsibility. The values you pass on today will shape your grandchildren’s decisions and relationships and potentially the generations that follow. Your influence can ripple far beyond your imagination, pointing hearts to God for years.
Daily Challenge:
Choose one core value you want to emphasize with your grandchild this week: faith, kindness, honesty, or service. Share a story or example from your life that illustrates it, and discuss how they can practice it in their own life.
