Day 5: Reinforcing God’s Work

Scripture: “So Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, one on the other so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army.” (Exodus 17:12, NIV)

Grandparents play a vital role in reinforcing the spiritual work of parents. Just as Aaron and Hur held up Moses’ hands so Israel could prevail, grandparents support and strengthen the faith and efforts of the next generation.

Your encouragement, prayer, and example can keep children and parents steady in their walk with God. When you cheer on good choices, help interpret God’s Word or model perseverance, you are holding up their hands spiritually. Your influence can tip the scales toward faith, courage, and obedience.

Grandparenting on purpose isn’t about taking over but strengthening what is already being built. Your support can help grandchildren see God’s work in their lives more clearly and remind them that faith is a team effort across generations.

Identify one area in your grandchild’s spiritual life where you can provide support this week. Pray with them, encourage them in a specific practice, or share a personal story of God’s faithfulness to reinforce their faith journey.
