Grandparenting on Purpose

DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6: Cutting Through the Noise

Scripture: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27, NIV)

Today’s world is loud. Screens, social media, peer pressure, and endless activities compete for the attention of our grandchildren. In the middle of all this noise, grandparents have a unique role in pointing them back to the clear, steady voice of Jesus.

Think of Samuel as a boy in the temple. When God called his name, he didn’t initially recognize His voice. Eli, the older priest, guided Samuel by saying, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.’” (1 Samuel 3:9, NIV). Without Eli’s wisdom, Samuel may not have understood who was speaking to him.

Grandparents can play that same role today. You may not silence the world’s noise, but you can help your grandchildren discern God’s voice. Your calm presence, steady faith, and gentle words can cut through confusion and point them to the One who calls them by name.

Daily Challenge:
This week, take a few minutes to share with your grandchild how you hear God’s voice, whether through prayer, Scripture, worship, or quiet reflection. Encourage them to listen for His voice, even in a noisy world.
