DAY 21 OF 30

Day 21: El Chuwl – The God Who Gave You Birth

Devotional:

The name El Chuwl means The God Who Gave You Birth. This beautiful and deeply personal name reminds us that God is the origin of our very life, not just the Creator of the universe, but the Author of our existence. From conception, God’s hands are on us, knitting us together, breathing life into our lungs, and calling us into being.

This Speaks to His Ever-Present Nature, Unlimited by Time

Psalm 90, written by Moses, is a profound meditation on God’s eternal nature and our fleeting life. When Moses reflects on God as “from everlasting to everlasting,” he points to a God who transcends time and space, yet intimately engages with each of us. God’s relationship to our birth is both cosmic and personal. He is the God of the grand design, but also the God of the fragile heartbeat inside the womb.

Understanding God as El Chuwl gives us incredible dignity and value. You are not an accident, nor the product of random chance. You are intentionally created by a loving God who knew you before birth. Psalm 139 echoes this truth beautifully, describing how God formed us in the secret place and how he ordains all our days.

This name also reminds us of God’s care and purpose for our lives. Just as a parent lovingly brings a child into the world, God’s giving of life is an act of love and intention. He doesn’t simply create and abandon; He sustains, guides, and nurtures us. The very breath in our lungs is a gift from Him.

Return to El Chuwl

When life feels overwhelming or you question your worth, return to the truth of El Chuwl. You belong to God by birth. He is your Father and your Maker. Nothing can separate you from the love of the God who gave you life (Romans 8:38-39). Your life matters because he has provided it.

Moreover, this name calls us to live with gratitude and purpose. If God gave you birth, then your life is not your own. You are called to honor the One who created you by living intentionally, serving others, and pursuing the good He designed for you. Every moment is an opportunity to reflect the glory of the God who breathed life into you.

El Chuwl also carries the hope of new birth and spiritual life. Just as God gave you physical birth, He offers a spiritual rebirth through Jesus Christ. We are born again to a living hope (1 Peter 1:3). This second birth brings forgiveness, transformation, and eternal life with God.

Living Under El Chuwl

Today, thank God for the gift of life, your life. Remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), crafted by the God who knows you intimately and loves you endlessly. As you embrace your identity as His child, may you walk confidently in the purpose and destiny He has prepared for you.

Prayer:

El Chuwl, thank you for the gift of life and for creating me with intention and love. Help me to see my life as a precious gift from you. Teach me to live with gratitude and purpose, honoring you in all I do. Remind me daily that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. May I reflect your glory and grace as the God who gave me birth. It is in the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How does knowing God gave you birth affect the way you view your life and your identity?
  2. How can you honor God, the Creator of your life, through your daily choices?
  3. How has God shown His care and purpose for you in your journey so far?
