Think about longings you have that you want fulfilled. What future are you hoping for?

In the video, Barrett says that he is excited by Christ’s coming kingdom because “it promises an earthly existence filled with pure justice for the poor, and an end to sickness, pain and suffering.”

How do you feel about this promise of future hope? How does this promise of future hope impact the anticipation of your present longings?

Read this Bible passage slowly: “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”' (Revelation 21:3-4, NIV).

Tell God all the hopes and longings you have right now that are yet to be fulfilled.

Conclude your time with this prayer:

“Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10, NIV). May we live with faith and love, anticipating the day when all is made new. Come, Lord Jesus, and bring your kingdom near. Amen.
