Love is Patient
Take a few deep breaths and ask God to quiet your mind and help you to hear his voice.
What are you struggling with this morning? Tell God about it. Release those concerns to him. As Barrett says in the video, “God is patient. He is perfectly patient.…He is willing to wait even if our fears have overwhelmed us and we can’t reason straight.”
Slowly read Psalm 103:8, 11:
“The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love….
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (NIV).
What do you observe about how the psalmist describes God’s love? Do you struggle to believe it?
Read the passage again, asking God to help your unbelief, to open your eyes to see God’s patience.
Ask yourself: Is there anything that makes me question God’s love and ability to provide what I need?
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you rest in God’s perfect patience. Remain and rest for as long as you need.
