Deborah—Praying Through Vocational Challenges

One of the hats Deborah wore was that of a political and military leader. In this challenging setting, she would have learned that God could lead and guide her through battles and conflict. Deborah is the only woman recorded in the Bible who served as a judge in Israel. We know that when God used her and Barak (a military commander) to deliver His nation from the invasion and oppression of a foreign nation, she prayed in the form of a song of praise.
We can lift up raw, honest, powerful prayers in whatever vocation God calls us to pursue. From the classroom to the boardroom to a child’s bedroom, as we care for a sick child, prayers should flow freely.
Take time to thank God for your vocation (or vocations) and praise Him for the opportunity you have to serve Him and others.
