Praying With Women of the Bible

DAY 3 OF 5

Rebekah—Praying Through Family Conflict

The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?" So she went to inquire of the Lord. The Lord said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.” Genesis 25:22,23 NIV

Even when God answers our deepest prayers, we need to continue to seek His face and trust His leading. In an era when having a child was viewed as a God-ordained blessing, Rebekah received what appeared to be a double portion of blessings. She conceived and gave birth to twins (Esau and Jacob). What could go wrong? The truth is that her boys had deep and long-term relational tensions. If you want to learn to pray, walk with family members who need what prayer can deliver—the power of God!

Go directly to the Lord and inquire of Him when you are seeking to understand family issues. The wisdom you need will come from God. The power you need will be unleashed by the Holy Spirit. The grace you need has already been delivered by Jesus.

Pause right now and pray for God’s healing, peace, and grace in your family.

About this Plan

Praying With Women of the Bible

Join Sherry Harney as you reflect on many prayer styles by showing how biblical accounts of women in different circumstances spoke to God. You'll be encouraged by the examples we are given in Scripture of women who went before us and share in our common needs for prayer and communion with a holy and gracious God.
