Jesus Is…The Great I AmSample

Day 2 - Jesus is…the Light of the World and the Resurrection and the Life.
John 11:17-27 (ESV)
Devotional: In John 8:12 (ESV), Jesus proclaims that "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life." With these words, He offers more than just comfort; He offers clarity amid confusion. As we know, the world is full of dark things such as sin, fear, and uncertainty. Jesus, however, does not just bring light into the darkness; He is the light. His presence exposes what is hidden and shows us the way forward. Think about walking into a dark room. The moment you turn on the light, everything changes. You can see clearly now, and you know where to go. Jesus does this for our lives. He fills what is empty and guides our hearts to a place that allows us to live the life He designed for us. Do not be fooled, though; it is only through Christ that we can walk with confidence and no longer stumble into sin. Jesus is the light of the world. Later in John 11:25 (ESV), Jesus declares, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die." He spoke these words right before calling Lazarus out from the grave. Not only does Jesus make this bold claim, but He also backs it up with power. And after four days in the tomb, Lazarus rose from the grave. This moment reveals something very important about Jesus: He holds authority over death. Nothing can contend with Jesus because He has already won the battle. This should give us hope in our walk with Him. If we are in Christ, we are secure. Sin and death no longer have the final word in our lives. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. In Him, we can live forever.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You that sin and death do not have the final word. You are our light, and You illuminate our path. I am secure because I have You!
