Jesus Is…The Great I AmSample

Jesus Is…The Great I Am

DAY 1 OF 4

Day 1 - Jesus is...the Bread of Life.

John 6:22-59 (ESV)

Devotional: In John 6:35 (ESV), Jesus boldly declares, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst." These words come shortly after He miraculously fed the five thousand with just two loaves of bread and five fish. Jesus met their physical hunger in a remarkable way. However, He was pointing to something much deeper than physical hunger. He was inviting people into a life sustained by Him alone. He offers the same to us today. Just as bread is a daily necessity in today's world, Jesus is essential nourishment for our souls. Physical food satisfies only for a moment, but the spiritual hunger inside each of us can only be satisfied by Christ. He is the true bread from heaven, the one who grants eternal life to all who come to Him in faith. Jesus reminded the people of the manna that God provided through Moses in the wilderness, but He made it clear that this was temporary. Jesus, however, is the everlasting bread. He is the one we can rely on, the one in whom we can find everlasting peace. He is the one we can depend on every single day. We must feed on His word and walk with Him daily. Jesus is the Bread of Life, so we must trust Him completely and seek to serve Him each day. He alone sustains us, and only He can satisfy.

Prayer: Jesus, continue to sustain us. Thank You that You are the Bread of Life. We need You to live. As I feed on Your Word, instruct me in Your ways. Give me wisdom.
