DAY 14 OF 28

Day 14—Worship and prophecy go together

Devotional
In a time of worship, it is more important to have listening ears for the voice of God than to offer endless songs and prayers. Seek to give Him room to speak and then respond to Him. This is why the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 14 (NIV) emphasises that we should eagerly desire the gift of prophecy. Worship opens your heart to God and aligns your spirit with His, which creates a fertile ground for Him to speak. David shows us this in Psalm 108 (NIV) by declaring his steadfast heart and singing praises to God (Psalm 108:1 NIV). Prophecy is all about hearing from God and then responding accordingly. If you are in a gathering with others, ask God if the word He has given you is only for you, for one other person, or for the whole group. If you sense it is for the whole group, submit it to the leader in the room so they can decide if it’s right to share. If they don’t feel it’s right, surrender it back to God. You have done your part. And if you do get to share, make sure the word strengthens, encourages, and comforts (1 Corinthians 14:3 NIV). When the prophetic is released in worship, people are built up in their faith!

Prayer
Father, I desire the gift of prophecy. I want to hear You clearly, and so I choose to listen to Your voice when I am in worship. Amen.

Application
Prophecy: Ask God to reveal a message of hope or encouragement for someone today and share it with them.

About this Plan

Deeper in Worship

"Deeper In Worship" is a 28-day plan designed to help you grow in your love for God through a fuller understanding of why and how we worship. Worship is for God alone; it is deeply spiritual, often physical, and a journey into encountering the presence of God. The plan includes a daily Psalm and a New Testament passage. It finishes with a short devotional, a prayer, and a suggested application.
