Letting God in When Life Falls ApartSample

Letting God In: When Shame Keeps You Silent
Shame has a way of whispering lies that sound like truth. You messed up too badly. God’s done with you. Don’t even think about coming back. It isolates. It convinces us that if people knew what we’d really done, or what’s been done to us, they’d walk away. That God might, too.
I’ve sat with women who couldn't even lift their eyes when they spoke. The weight of shame was too heavy. They were convinced their past had disqualified them from being loved, accepted, or even forgiven. Over and over again, I’ve seen what happens when those same women stop running and start confessing—when they finally open their hands and let God in.
Without fail, He meets them with mercy.
Scripture doesn’t say, “There is now no condemnation for those who never messed up.” It says there is no condemnation for those in Christ. Period. The cross already carried your shame. You don’t have to keep holding it.
Confession isn’t about earning your way back; it’s about freedom. When you name what’s been weighing you down, you give God permission to lift it. He’s not waiting for you to pretend you’re fine. He’s waiting for you to be honest.
Maybe today you feel stuck in regret. Maybe you’ve been keeping a part of your story off-limits. What if the breakthrough isn’t in hiding, but in letting Him into the most painful parts?
Reflection:
- Is there something you’ve been keeping hidden from God or others?
- What lie has shame tried to make you believe?
- How would it feel to stop hiding and trust that God still wants you?
Prayer:
God, I’ve let shame keep me silent for too long. I’ve believed I had to carry this alone. Today, I choose to believe Your love is bigger than my past. I confess my need for You, not just in the good moments, but in the hardest ones. Thank You for meeting me with mercy. Amen.
About this Plan

Some moments change everything. A phone rings. A door slams. Words are spoken that can’t be taken back. Suddenly, the life you were holding onto begins to slip through your hands. You start to pull away, not because you’ve stopped believing, but because you don’t know how to pray from a place like this. It hurts. It’s messy. It’s not what you pictured. God hasn’t gone anywhere. He isn’t asking you to be fine or to have the right words. He’s just waiting for you to let Him in.
