Parenting Is War.... Stop Fighting Naked

Let’s be honest, parenting is not just a sweet bedtime story and cute lunchbox notes. Some days it feels like war. You fight disrespect, defiance, slammed doors, and rolled eyes. And if you’re honest, you fight yourself! Your guilt, your anger, your fear that you’re failing the one job that matters most.

But here’s what the church rarely says out loud: this fight is spiritual. The enemy doesn’t care if your kid has straight A’s he wants their mind confused, their heart hardened, and your spirit exhausted. He wants your home full of chaos and silence where there should be prayer.

Too many parents are out here fighting naked... no covering, no plan, no armor. But Ephesians 6 doesn’t say “Think about the armor.” It says, “Put it on.” The Helmet to guard your thoughts. The Breastplate to protect your heart. The Belt to hold you steady in truth. The Shoes to carry peace when chaos tries to run your house. The Shield to block every lie. The Sword to fight back with the Word out loud.

Parent, you weren’t called to fight flesh and blood. You were called to stand covered while Heaven fights with you. You love your kid, but love alone won’t win the battle behind their eyes. Suit up. Stop fighting uncovered.

Prayer

God, open my eyes to the real battle for my home. Forgive me for fighting naked and reacting in my flesh. Teach me how to stand fully armored every day, so my family is covered, and the enemy stays losing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
