RETURN to ME: Reading With the People of God #16Sample

Judgment, Betrayal, and Hope
Today’s readings plunge us into the harsh realities of judgment and betrayal. In Nahum 3, the prophet paints a vivid picture of Nineveh’s complete downfall—pride, violence, and deceit all exposed. It’s a sobering reminder that unrepentant sin leads to ruin.
In Mark 14, Jesus warns His disciples about coming trials, then faces betrayal by Judas—the painful cost of discipleship and a stark reminder of human weakness, even among Jesus’ closest followers.
These passages challenge us to honestly confront pride and betrayal in our lives and communities. Yet amid this, we find hope in God’s faithfulness and redemptive plan.
Reflection Questions:
- Where do I see pride or betrayal affecting my life or community?
- How am I responding to God’s call to faithfulness in difficult moments?
Prayer:
Lord, help me face my shortcomings and the brokenness around me without turning away. Strengthen my faith in Your plan, even when the path is difficult. Help me trust Your mercy and remain faithful in trials. Amen.
About this Plan

This 16th installment of our Reading with the People of God plan invites you into the voices of the Minor Prophets—Hosea through Nahum—calling God’s people to return with sincerity and trust. Paired with the Gospel of Mark, we’ll hear Christ’s invitation to repentance and renewed faith. Each day includes readings from Psalms, the Old Testament, and the New Testament, with a brief devotional primer. May these readings draw you nearer to the Lord, awaken your heart to His mercy, and echo His faithful call: “Return to Me.”
