It is Better I Go & Will Soon Return

The disciples had just received a promise: You will receive power... and you will be My witnesses. Then, in what must have felt like both wonder and loss, Jesus was taken up into the sky—lifted from their sight, yet not from their lives. In John 16:7, Jesus had told them something mysterious: “It is better for you that I go away, for if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you.” His departure wasn’t the end of the story—it was the beginning of a greater chapter. His physical absence made way for the Spirit’s powerful presence. As the disciples stood staring into the sky, angels reminded them: He will return. We live between those two moments—His ascension and His promised return. In the meantime, we are not alone. We are empowered by the Spirit, entrusted with His mission, and anchored in hope. We don’t just look up—we live ready.

Prayer: Ascended Lord Jesus, Thank You for the promise of Your Spirit and the hope of Your return. Help us to wait with faith, to live with purpose, and to walk in the power of the Spirit. Fix our eyes on You, and make us faithful in the time between. Come, Holy Spirit. Strengthen and guide us. Amen.
